How to put on disposable gloves

Step 1 - Check glove size

It is important that the gloves you will be wearing are the right size. The right size means they won't be so tight that they tear or so loose that they fall off or become less flexible. Glove sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but we have a good guide to determine which ones you may need.

Step 2 - Remove all jewelry

Rings with large stones and bracelets with clasps can hook on disposable gloves, causing them to tear and break. Remove them before putting on the gloves.

Step 3 - Make sure your hands are clean

You may think of gloves as your primary protection, but it is important that your hands are also clean to ensure that in the event of a tear or laceration, the skin underneath remains clean to minimize the spread of infection.

We offer in-depth guides on how to properly wash your hands on our website. If you don't have access to soap and water, you can use an antibacterial hand sanitizer.

Make sure your hands are thoroughly dry before putting on disposable gloves.

Step 4 - Remove the gloves from the package

Before putting them on, check them carefully for signs of tears or rips to make sure they are in good condition.

Step 5 - Start with your dominant hand

It is best to cover your dominant hand first and then pick up the gloves from the inside of the cuff with your non-dominant hand. Then simply slide your dominant hand into it.

Remember, it is important that you only touch the inside of the glove to reduce the chance of contamination and that you only adjust this glove once the other glove is on.

Step 6 - Putting on the other glove

Holding the cuff of the glove again, push your non-dominant hand into the opening and gently move it inside. Make sure not to over flex your fingers before they enter the designated hole.

Step 7 - Adjust the glove if necessary

Carefully adjust the glove to better fit the fingers and cover the entire hand. Make sure not to pull excessively to prevent rips and tears and avoid contact with the skin on your wrist when adjusting the cuff of the glove.

Tips for putting on disposable gloves

Some quick tips and tricks for putting on and putting on disposable gloves.

✴ Make sure the glove's packaging has not been tampered with or damaged.

✴ If you are allergic to latex, choose a nitrile or vinyl-based product - this ensures that you won't have a reaction that could leave your hands sore and dry.

✴ If a glove rips or tears, wash your hands and put on a new pair of gloves.

✴ Do not wash disposable gloves and use them again later.

✴ Check that gloves are not too tight - pinched skin, excessively sweaty hands, overstretched material and limited dexterity all indicate gloves that are too small and more likely to break.

✴ Use a new set of gloves for each different task you perform to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.

✴ Make sure you choose the correct thickness level for the task at hand. Some disposable gloves are puncture resistant, while others are designed for ease of movement and are therefore thinner.
